Just leaving a long winter’s hibernation? Why not join Carl Tugend, the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources’ (DWR) Bear Project Lead, as he discusses his work with black bears in the state. We will go over a brief history of black bears, their habitat, diet, and behaviors, and how DWR manages bear populations and handles human-bear conflicts.

This is a free event, open to the public. The park’s visitor center will be open late to host the talk; to attend, head to the visitor center’s cafe area, or ask at the front counter for the Winter Speaker Series talk.
