About Andrea:

Andrea Garland is a transportation professional with broad experience in alternative transportation engineering, planning and design. From her origins in Bogota, Colombia, relying on public transit, biking, and walking, she was inspired to pursue a career in transportation. Andrea graduated from Virginia Tech in 2007 with a master’s degree in Civil Engineering – Transportation focus and since then has worked as an active transportation engineer for Alta planning in California, North Carolina, and Virginia, followed by a six-year tenure as a traffic engineer for the City of Roanoke. Andrea now serves as the Director of RIDE Solutions, the TDM program for Southwest Virginia.
