These local clubs make it fun and easy to enjoy Roanoke’s indoor ice skating rink, miles of cross country skiing along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and even the 13 ski resorts within a half day’s drive of Roanoke. Many of the winter sports clubs meet on a regular schedule and plan group trips throughout the year.
With more than 380 members this club seeks to bring together people from the Roanoke and New River Valleys who are interested in outdoor activities. Members have a wide variety of interests and experience levels and provide a mix of activities (hiking, backpacking, biking, climbing, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, caving, etc.).
The Roanoke Outdoor & Social Group uses the Meetup.com web service to connect members.
The Roanoke Ski Club offers several ski trips to local ski areas, and other destinations throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan. In addition to great trips, they offer other activities throughout the year such as whitewater rafting, hiking, canoeing, happy hours, and parties.

The Snow Club at Virginia Tech is open to student and non-student members. Membership comes with perks such as discounted ski passes, trips, giveaways, discounts at local shops, and more.
